Song of Silence wins the NETPAC award

The NETPAC Award was won by the following film at the 10th International Film Festival of Asian Pacific Countries , Vladivostok, Russia (22 Sept - 28th Sept. 2012)

Citation A moving tale about personal demons, family relationships and changing times. With unassuming touches, by turns delicate and melodramatic,Song of Silence captures an aspect of Modern China few filmmakers have bothered to explore. 

Synopsis Jing is deaf since childhood and her mother is handed custody of the child on her divorce. The child is made to live with her grandfather since her stepfather does not like the child. She is fractious and unhappy. in desperation her mother sends the child back to live with the father. There she develops a relationship with the fathers girlfriend Mei. Mei is a spirited independent kind hearted girl who reaches out to the young girl. But she too has to leave. Loneliness and silence surround the central characters.
