10th Baiqonyr International Film Festival, Almaty, Kazakhstan, 22-28 September 2025

Although this festival has been collaborating with Azerbaijan for several years, this was the first time the NETPAC award was presented — thanks to the initiative of Gulnara Abikeyeva there and one of the jury also represented Azerbaijan. And I can confidently say it was such a good initiative that it finally happened this year. Actually, collaboration of Azerbaijan Union of Filmmakers with NETPAC is crucial for AUF in order to enlarge Azerbaijani participation in world cinema.

45th Hawai‘i International Film Festival, October 2025

The 45th Hawai‘i International Film Festival (HIFF) is the premiere film festival of the Pacific, including hundreds of screenings across three weeks on all the main Hawaiian Islands, with the biggest showcase of the festival in Honolulu, October 17 - 26, 2025.

XXI Kazan International Film Festival “Altyn Minbar” Republic of Tatarstan- Russian Federation

The festival was organized in 2005 under the initiative of the Muftis Council of Russia, The Federal Agency of Culture and cinematography of Russian Federation, and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan with the support of the Rais of the Tatarstan. The theme of the current session (September 5-9, 2025) of Kazan International Film Festival, like every other session, was “Through the dialogue of Cultures to a Culture of dialogue.”

46th Cairo International Film Festival

The 46th Cairo International Film Festival was conducted in the capital city of Egypt from the 12th to 21st Nov 2025. This was the second year that a NETPAC Jury had been invited and it is collaboration that is worth maintaining and cultivating. The festival program contained about 140 films (including shorts) and a parallel Market Section ‘Cairo Industry Days’ which was into it’s fifth edition.

With a realistic tone in the first part, before sliding into sensory surrealism in the second, "Vimukt" is an accomplished feature film which received the NETPAC Award “For offering an indelible tale of tolerance, desperation and faith, conveyed through a unique lens of realism and poetics, elevated by striking performances”, as the NETPAC jury's citation indicates.

82nd Venice International Film Festival

With around 140 titles screened, including feature films, documentaries, and special projects, and 21 films in competition, the 82nd Venice International Film Festival, organized by La Biennale di Venezia and directed by Alberto Barbera, sold 103,033 tickets and accredited 13,934 people. Among the first Asian films in competition was Park Chan-wook's “No Other Choice,” about workers who are willing to kill each other rather than be fired.

47th Moscow International Film Festival

Moscow International Film Festival (MIFF) is one of the oldest film festivals of the world which has been leading its history since 1935, when Sergey Eisenstein was the chairman of the jury and the film Chapaev (1934) by Georgi Vasilyev opened the festival. MIFF is the second film festival in the history of cinema after the Venice Film Festival (1932).

Judging by these films, Vietnam is experiencing an astonishing cinematic renaissance, presenting a world never before seen on the festival circuit — aesthetic, sensual, profound, where personal inner life and global realities coexist in a fascinating way. It’s worth noting that all of these films were made in co-production with European or Asian countries.

46th Moscow International Film Festival

The thought that I was invited to one of the oldest film festivals in the world was very exciting, Moscow International Film Festival (MIFF) was first held in 1935.

45th Cairo International Film Festival, 2024

This year NETPAC was invited to establish a jury at the Cairo International Film Festival, a FIAPF A list festival which was established in 1976, making it the oldest film festival in Africa and the Arab region.

19th JAFF – JOGJA-NETPAC ASIAN FILM FESTIVAL

It was a grand event for a modest town like Yogyakarta. The 19th edition of JAFF, the Jogja- Netpac Asian Film Festival which had Metanoia as its theme,

Pingyao Festival was founded by the great director Jia Zhang ke in the mythical Chinese city of Pingyao, which is 2,800 years old.
